"I started playing when I was 11, which means I have been playing for 15 years now! I was absolutely rubbish at football, but I was tall - so volleyball seemed the better option. I started playing for Speedwell, where I went from a beginner to playing National League. I then left Bristol to go to university in Plymouth, where I played for the uni men's team - the highlight of which was reaching the British University Finals back in 2003. I moved back to Bristol in 2004 and joined BVC as it was a friendly club which also played a good standard of volleyball. On one of my less-sober nights I was then persuded to stand for chairman, and over the past few years have overseen some major reforms to the club - taking it from a club with receiding membership, to its present state with unpresidented numbers of players and teams, and quality of coaching. This year I hope to build on the club's impressive performance in the South West league last season, with a view to progressing at least one team to National League next season, and create a social scene and club atmosphere unrivaled by any other club in the area." |

"My interest in volleyball started to grow when I was studying sports at the University of Tartu. My field was “Track and field” but I was eager to learn also volleyball. During my studies in Germany 2005, I started to play and train with the University of Kiel as a beginner and progressed to intermediate level quickly and in the same time, played for the mixed team “Meerbauer” in city Kiel league. After going back to Estonia, I played and trained with the University of Tartu ladies team and really enjoyed that. In 2007 I moved to Bristol. Very important for me was to continue playing volleyball and find friends, so I am happy I joined BVC. I have improved my volleyball skills a lot thanks to our coach and I really enjoy training with ladies team. I have met lots of nice people in our club and become really good friends with some of them. As our club is constantly growing, I am eager to see how the coming season goes." |

"I started playing volleyball at school and continued playing as student at
the University of Kiel. When I first came to Bristol in summer 2006 for a
three months internship I really enjoyed playing in the Clifton Downs with
members of BVC and other players hanging around. Of course, when I returned
to Bristol after finishing my thesis, I joined the club and after my first
complete season I now happen to be the new treasurer." |

"I played volleyball at school, then for 1 year with the University of Bristol when I was 21 and joined the BVC in 2006. I have really enjoyed being part of the club and have now progressed to 'social secretary' as well as being a new player on the ladies team. I generally try to play as much volleyball as I can, almost obsessively, and will be aiming to organise loads of socials for the coming year. Be prepared!" |
