BVC Wick Tournament 2010
The BVC Wick tournament is back! This year's event will be bigger and better than ever, complete with the usual live bands, disco, and BBQ. The 2010 theme is Hawaiian Surf Festival, so dig out your board shorts and most horrendous shirt.
Tournament Format
Games are played outdoors on grass. Bristol & District rules are used meaning teams must be 6-a-side and contain at least 2 'wildcards' (U18/O50/Ladies). Games on the Saturday will determine which divisions teams will compete in.
Venue
The tournament is held at Wick Sports Ground, just a few miles outside of Bristol, in a superb countryside location (please note that this means there are not many facilties like hotels and restaurants near to the tournament venue). There is a clubhouse and changing facilities onsite, along with plenty of space for (free) camping. Car parking is limited, so please car-share where possible. There will also be the tournament marquee, where the live music, disco and bar will be late into the night.
Party
The tournament prides itself on its party. This year we will have two live bands and DJ Dimi on decks into the wee hours. Everything is based around the tournament marquee, so if the weather is good you can relax out on the field with your food listening to some good music.
Costs
The BVC Wick tournament is extreamly good value compared to other tournaments at just £45 per team. Camping and parking at Wick is completely free and so is the party!
Food
Dont want to worry about food? £10 per person gets you breakfast on Sunday, lunch on both Saturday and Sunday, and a BBQ on Saturday evening. Snacks will also be available from the bar, and there will be a cake and fruit stall on site all weekend.
Drinks
The tournament bar will be open all weekend serving a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Please support our club and purchase your drinks from our bar. If we lose money then the future of the tournament in years to come will be at risk. Prices are extreamly reasonable with a beer costing just £2 and a shot and mixer only £1.50.
Theme
The BVC Wick tournament is slighly different to other tournaments in that each year there is a different theme. This came about from the first tournament which was 80's themed to celebrate the club's 20th anniversary of when it was formed back in 1986. This year's theme is Hawaiian Surf Festival, so plenty of scope for your party costume! Some people like to play their matches in costume too. Prizes will be awarded for the best outfit.
